Casting processes
Aluminum die castingAluminum die casting in China for housings, enclosures, heat sinks and brackets in A380, A383 and ADC12, with CNC machining and finishing. Design checks and what to send for a quote.Zinc die castingZinc die casting in Zamak 3 and Zamak 5 for small, detailed parts with plated or painted finishes. Properties, design notes and what to send for a quote.Investment castingInvestment casting (lost-wax) services in China for stainless steel, carbon steel and alloy steel parts: complex shapes, heat treatment and CNC machining, quoted from your drawings.Machining & finishingPost-machining of die castings and investment castings (milling, drilling, tapping) plus shot blasting, powder coating, anodizing and plating — coordinated with the casting order.
What CastingSmith does
CastingSmith is the casting service of Dongguan Huasheng Precision Technology (Huasheng Precision), a CNC machining manufacturer in Dongguan, China. Castings are produced at partner foundries matched to the process and alloy. We handle drawing review, quotation, production coordination, post-machining, finishing and shipping.
| Stage | What we review with you |
|---|---|
| Process selection | Whether die casting, investment casting or machining from solid fits the quantity, geometry and material |
| Quotation | Tooling and piece price quoted separately, with machining, finishing, inspection and freight terms listed |
| Tooling and first articles | Gating, draft, wall thickness and ejector pin locations reviewed on the drawing |
| Production | Casting, machining, finishing and packing steps, plus the inspection records you need |

Choosing a process
| Aluminum die casting | Zinc die casting | Investment casting | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical alloys | A380, A383 / ADC12 | Zamak 3, Zamak 5 | 304 / CF8, 316 / CF8M, carbon and alloy steels |
| Best for quantity | Medium to high | Medium to high | Low to medium |
| Tooling | Higher (steel die) | Higher, usually longer die life | Lower than die casting (wax pattern die) |
| Strengths | Light, thin-wall housings and brackets | Small, detailed parts; plated finishes | Complex shapes in steel and stainless |

Guides
What is die castingDie casting forces molten metal into a steel die under high pressure. How the process works, hot-chamber vs cold-chamber machines, pros and cons, and design rules of thumb.Die casting alloysCompare common die casting alloys — A380, A383, ADC12, A360 and Zamak 3 / Zamak 5: composition, typical properties, equivalents across standards and how to choose.Die casting toolingWhat determines die casting tooling cost — part size, cavities, slides, complexity, tool steel — plus die life, ownership and maintenance terms to agree before ordering.Investment casting processHow investment (lost-wax) casting works step by step, its advantages and limitations, common stainless and steel grades, and how it compares with die casting.
How a project runs
- Send drawings and 3D models — PDF drawing and STEP model, quantity, material and finish. If you need an NDA, contact us before sending files.
- Drawing review — we come back with casting-related questions: draft, wall thickness, tolerances, as-cast versus machined surfaces.
- Quotation — tooling, piece price, machining, finishing and freight terms shown separately.
- Tooling and first article — dimensional and cosmetic checks on first shots before production; the method and report format are agreed in advance.
- Production and shipping — packing and shipping method confirmed for each order.
